Aidan, Aidan-Man, Aiders...

I CANNOT believe that Aidan is almost 4 months old! Where in the world has time gone these past 16.5 weeks! Aidan is such a fun, mellow little man. His favorite position is being held facing out so he can observe the world. He loves his big sister and watching her every move. He has recently started to giggle and he talks so LOUD! He's not the world's best sleeper, but I know in time that will get better. I just love this little man!!!
Here he is last week:
Don't you just want to eat him up?

Olivia loving on the babies during our play date with Jack & Henry. She came downstairs from her nap and said, "Oh, look, there are my babies!"

Henry, Aidan, Jack

Aidan is the pipsqueak of the bunch; at 15 wks. he weighed 11 lb. 11 oz. Henry is almost 16 (one week older than Aiders) and Jack is almost 14 (7 wks. younger than Aiders).

Tonight I am frustrated.

Sometimes I just wish that everyone would do things JUST like me. You know what I mean? You ask for something done...and end up just wishing you would have done it yourself. I mean, then it would have been done RIGHT, right? I am very intentional about almost everything that I do. Call me a perfectionist, call me controlling, call me what you will...I like things done a certain way. Why? Because it creates a more controlled sequence of events. And that gives me an easier time.

So, why can't everyone just do it like me?

It's coming...

POTTY TIME!

What the heck do I do? Please tell me your tips and advice for potty training this sweet little girl whose not so sweet little diapers I am ready to be D.O.N.E. changing!! My goal is to start working with her starting May 1. (Just because I needed to pick a day...) She'll be almost 26 months old then.

And so it goes...

Olivia is on the mend! Hooray! She has finally been acting like herself the last couple of days--still coughing, one more day of antibiotics and hopefully we're in the clear!
Aidan and I are sick now--of course! Aiders has a cough and is so tired at night!! SO FAR (knock on wood) he's still sleeping okay. (I say okay because good for Aidan is not good for me!...he only goes 4-6 hours most nights for his long stretch, it's getting old) I am majorly stuffed up!!
Work is done for the week! Fun with friends at my house tomorrow morning, ECFE Thurs, Exploring Newborns Friday...ahhh, I love this part of my week!

My little sickie

My poor little Olivia has been sick all week! She has had a fever every day (besides yesterday, but back again today) and has a nasty cold and cough. Poor little peanut!

Yesterday I had to work in the morning and my parents watched the kids b/c Olivia couldn't go to daycare due to her fever (thank you mom & dad) and then she fell asleep on the way home. I brought her right up to bed and she slept for 2 hours, and awoke clearly not ready to be awake. I told her she could lay in her bed until she was ready to be up and I would leave her door open and be right downstairs. A few minutes later I looked upstairs and she was laying in the hallway with her nuk & blankie, and then when I looked again she wasn't there. I figured she'd gone back to bed since 10 min. later it was still quiet, so I decided to check. I peered in her bedroom and much to my surprise she wasn't on the bed! I looked all around her room and she wasn't there...as I started to imagine the mess she had been making, I walked into our room and found this...

Sweet little girl curled up on my body pillow and fell fast asleep for another hour! Awaking to look like this...
Hopefully she'll be fever free tomorrow and the cold will be gone soon!

Random Wonderings...

Why is it that when one child sleeps well, the other doesn't?

And why is it that when one child doesn't sleep well, the other doesn't either and you get up 8 times during the night?

Why do nukies have those holes in the sides? Is it to tie a strap on so the nukie stays in their mouth?

Why does coffee make you feel so GREEAAAT and then so doowwwnnn later? So you'll just keep drinking more?

Why do children get MORE energy when they are tired (and sick)? Why can't I have some of that energy when I am tired?

If I am so tired with two children and have to get up so many times, how do you people do it who have more?

Just wondering...

You'll never guess what I did today...

Oh dear...

So, the 3 of us went out for a walk to fetch the mail. Upon returning to the house, I brought Aidan inside, put him in his swing and went back outside with Olivia to put her carseat back in our car. Quick job, no problems, right??

I came back to the house to go back in and...couldn't open the door. WHAT! I can't open the door!! When I went outside, all I did was close the storm door behind me. Apparently if you close the storm door, it locks...and then you can't get back in. Well, crap. Of course I didn't have my cell phone with me and if you know where I live you will know that it's a LONG walk to the neighbors. At least a 5 min. walk. Luckily I could get into Ryan's brother's house (on our property) and called Ryan who only works a quick 5 min. drive away. Ryan came home and we had to take the door off of it's hinges to get back in to my sweet little babe.

All I have to say is thank goodness for swings that pacify little babes! He cried for like 1 min. the whole 20 min. ordeal and then fell asleep. Phew....

Seriously....

A trip to the Dr. & more "sass"

Thursday I took Olivia in to the doctor to have her take a look at Olivia's skin irritation, otherwise known in the clinical world as "excema". Poor girl. Hopefully the spring weather (although I'm not sure we can call it that yet) will help soon!

We see wonderful Deb Larson at our clinic and she also treats our friend Michael, and is aware that Michael and Olivia are good buddies. (BFF's if you ask Olivia) Rarely does a visit go by that we don't talk about the other friend for either Marci or myself. Hence the following conversation at the doctor on Thursday:
Dr. Larson: Olivia, how long have you had your rash?
Olivia: Michael hurt me.

Hmmmm.... No, no he didn't. In fact if I remember correctly, the last time we had been together you gave him such a wallop on the head that he flicnched away from you the rest of the evening. (not that he hasn't had his fair share of wallops on her though too! They fight like cats and dogs!!)
Oh Olivia...at least she didn't say that I hurt her! Then I'd have CPS on my back! :)

Ms. Sass

The other day Olivia and I (and Aidan) were driving to my parents house when I pointed out some horses to her and the following conversation ensued:

Me: Olivia, look there's some horses!
Olivia: No, I don't want to.
Me: Okay, that's fine.
Olivia: That's my choice.

Well, yes, I suppose it is. I think my lines are coming back to bite me... :)

She'll be coming round the mountain...

And probably will never sleep again. Okay, I know that's an exaggeration, but that's how I feel!

I totally thought we had this nap *&$% in the bag. 3 days in a row of no drama before vaca, 5 days of no drama with Grandma on vaca, 2 days of 10-20 min. drama upon return from vaca (totally expected)...and then...
Sat: 2 hours
Sun: 20 min.
Mon: 15 min.
Tues: 5 min. (looking good kiddo!)
Wed: 2 hours!!! WHAT!!!

I'm at a loss. What do you have to say now Super Nanny?
