Oh dear...
So, the 3 of us went out for a walk to fetch the mail. Upon returning to the house, I brought Aidan inside, put him in his swing and went back outside with Olivia to put her carseat back in our car. Quick job, no problems, right??
I came back to the house to go back in and...couldn't open the door. WHAT! I can't open the door!! When I went outside, all I did was close the storm door behind me. Apparently if you close the storm door, it locks...and then you can't get back in. Well, crap. Of course I didn't have my cell phone with me and if you know where I live you will know that it's a LONG walk to the neighbors. At least a 5 min. walk. Luckily I could get into Ryan's brother's house (on our property) and called Ryan who only works a quick 5 min. drive away. Ryan came home and we had to take the door off of it's hinges to get back in to my sweet little babe.
All I have to say is thank goodness for swings that pacify little babes! He cried for like 1 min. the whole 20 min. ordeal and then fell asleep. Phew....
Seriously....

Ryan didn't have a key either?
Well thank goodness it didn't take too long!
Shoot!! Did you know I did the same thing when jackson was a baby? He was sleeping in his crib and I took Oran outside (in the winter without jackets on) to take some pictures of him and locked us out -- without a phone... Oh my! I had to call a locksmith. Nate works too far away! Luckily, I live close to my neighbors and they were home!!! Why are we entrusted with these small helpless beings???? :) Glad he did fine!
What a stressful ordeal! I'm glad that you all survived and someday you can tell Aidan what brave little baby he was. :) What did Olivia have to say during the fiasco? I imagine that she'll have quite an interesting version of the story to tell people.
I'm always worried about that - I recently locked my keys in my car while it was running at the gas station - 5 min before work at 11pm. Luckily Sophie wasn't with because the police wouldn't help. So frustrating!! :)
what an anxious ordeal. I'm glad that everything turned out okay, but quite a story!
Tom locked Brady in the car in the winter once. Luckily the car was running. My stepdad and Tom took like 10 minutes to get it open. As Brady (one) stared at me and cried...
So glad Aidan fell asleep!
Oh! I locked Eva in the house once while she was sitting in her highchair... I actually had to call a locksmith, and she sat in there crying for at least an hour. OH, that was a bad day. I'm so glad it turned out ok for you!
So, Ehlan, do you have any different perspective now on that one story you like to remind me about?
With love,
Mom
oh scary! Glad he wasn't screaming the whole time!
Geez...I don't even know HOW to take a door off its hinges. I mean, I definitely don't own a screwdriver. I'll make a note to get one (and leave it outside) before I have any babies.
