Making the most...

Olivia is officially cuttinng 5 teeth. She has still been miserable. Waking up before 6 everyday (except Friday thankfully!) and just not being too happy. Of course, this makes for difficult days for me too. I try and not let it get to me too much because I know she is hurting, but sometimes it's reeeeaaalllly hard! I was feeling pretty frustrated this afternoon after Olivia woke up from her nap after only an hour and a half (she usually sleeps at least 2, usually 2.5 or 3) and she couldn't stop crying. I did let it get to me for a while--but I snapped myself out of it!

We ended up going over to Grammy and Grampy's for the afternoon which was a great distraction and a good little break for me! Then we headed to town to go grocery shopping, pick up McDonald's and go to the park to eat dinner and play for a bit. I broke LOTS of rules at the park tonight:
1. Eat before we play
2. No eating while we play (ish, think of the germs...)
3. No pop :)

But you know what? I don't care, because Olivia was VERY HAPPY! :) Hopefully she won't come down with hand, foot, and mouth disease or something...

Gymnastics!

Today was Out and About day for ECFE at our local gymnastics facility. Olivia L.O.V.E.D it! She played, and jumped, and ran, ran, ran, and climbed! We went with our friends Marci & Michael but hardly saw them because, of course, the 2 were running in opposite directions. We also ran into Megan which was so fun! Can't wait for next time! I wasn't too successful in getting pictures, but hopefully you can see the sheer joy!

On a funny note, 2 of my old gymnastics coaches work at the facility (Rocky and Wendy). Wendy and I had a good laugh about Olivia's 'lack' of grace and where she may have inherited it from!! :)

The bewtching hour

So, Olivia has been getting up during the 5:00 am hour every day this week. With the exception of Monday, when she arose at 4:50 am. Thank you sweet child. I have decided that I tend not to think straight when I have to get up at this time of day.

On Tuesday we went to the Twins game with our friends Jill and Mike. It was an awesome game. During the last part of the game the Twins hit, yet another, homerun! Go team!! As I am cheering and clapping away, I notice the guy running around the bases AGAIN! WHAT! What is he doing? Oh, I so don't get baseball. OH....WAIT....He's just the next runner...who hit another homerun. :)

Yesterday I had just warmed up a yummy bowl of cheesy vegetable soup when I bumped it. Of course, it spilled, all over me, and the floor... And I did NOT (er, I mean....) have the SH** word fly out of my mouth!! Olivia luckily didn't catch all of the vernacular of the word, but now says "Mommy pht!" Thanks for reminding me honey. :)

It's 10:29 am...

Beep beep beep! My morning began at 4:50 am...thank you Ryan's alarm clock. Ryan gets up, turns off the alarm clock, gets back in bed, and promptly falls back asleep. I roll about fitfully. Then it happens, I fall back asleep. Ahhh....

Mama! Mama! Mama! Groan..... I look at the clock, only 5:30. Well, at least that is better than 4:50 yesterday morning when she woke up! Seriously, teething is rough on mornings at our house. I was feeling very tired, very crabby, and NOT very ready to be a mama yet! We tromped downstairs and I proceeded to make breakfast. Of course, because Olivia is teething and it is now 5:45 am, she has to sit on my lap to eat. I stare into my cereal bowl, pregnant, tired tears clouding my eyes (pregnant because I am, not because they're big!). STOP Ehlan. You can do this, it's just another day and YOU WILL make the best of it!!!

So I did! I sucked it up! Yes, go me! Instead of laying around and being crabby and tired, I:
-Did the dishes
-Put together a lasagna for a family at our church
-Did more dishes
-Did 2 loads of laundry
-Folded 2 loads of laundry
-Changed sheets on 2 beds
-Re-filled diaper basket and wipes
-Took out the garbage
-Vaccumed the entire house
-Paid bills
-Got Olivia dressed and ready
-Got myself showered, dressed, and ready
-And in the midst: Changed 3 diapers (one nasty teething poopy ish...), made 2 snacks (cleaning makes me hungry...), read books, tickled, chased, played, and did the hokey pokey 3x.
-Oh, and got Olivia down for a nap.

Sheesh! I think I'm ready for a nap too!

Hunting Season

It's September. The weather is getting cooler, the leaves changing color, it's my favorite season. It's also my husband's favorite season, because fall = deer hunting.

Did you know that bow hunting begins in September and runs until January 1? I bet you didn't. Quite possibly the longest of the hunting seasons (except perhaps fishing), and definately my husband's favorite. See the results? Thankfully, Ryan is very sensitive to my needs during this season and doesn't hunt every day!!

On Tuesday morning I woke up (I mean Olivia woke me up) and we went downstairs to find a present on the table! The card said "Letters from the princess" and was full of sweet nothings about how wonderful I am (Ahem, thank you!)! At the bottom of the card was written "There is more to come"! OOH! Along with the card, I received chocolates and a little toy car for Olivia.

Wednesday morning, I couldn't wait to get up and go downstairs to see what I would find! Another sweet card with a package of mixed nuts (mmmm!) and a sweet saying about how my hubby is nuts about me! :) And another toy car for Olivia!

Thursday morning, another sweet card, MORE chocolates, and another car for Olivia!

How sweet! It absolutely made my week! Thank you dear sweet husband! Hunt all you want this fall...okay, maybe not all you want, but... :)

Please, please, please...

Please tell me it's not true. Tell me she didn't do it...and won't do it again. Please tell me it's just her teeth.

Olivia's daycare provider thinks she bit one of the other kids today. She didn't see it happen, but there was a suspicious bruise...and Olivia is the only possible culprit. Please tell me it isn't true. I don't want my child to be a biter. I know she is vivacious, and full of spunk (those are the positive ways to put it)...I can accept that she hits (we are working on it)...but biting? Please not biting.

I feel really sad about this tonight, and I don't even know that she did it for sure. I mean, kids get kicked out of daycares for this kind of behavior! People don't want playdates with a biter!!! I know I'm probably over-reacting, but this really bothers me. She is teething MEGA this week...3 molars at once. Perhaps this is the culprit. Yes, yes, that's it...it has to be, RIGHT?

Who else has had biters? What did you do?

**Update**
Okay, so I chilled out a bit! I actually got to talk to the other mom at daycare today (she is actually a friend from way back) and she was totally not concerned about it at all. It actually happened last week too and not yesterday. I feel much better about it, but still--what have you guys done?

Prayers

For a few weeks Olivia has been "jumping in" when we do prayers at night before bed. She will add in whoever I may have missed, people she is thinking of, or toys that are on her mind. It's too cute. Recently she has also started praying before every meal (I'm always consistent with praying before supper, but not always the other 2 meals)...Leave it to Olivia to get me on track! :) She folds her little hands, looks down, and says "Dada, Mommy, Olivia, Day, Amen!". I love it, love it, love it!

Olivia's 18 mos. stats

I took Olivia to the Dr. for her 18 mos. appt. last Friday. She is getting so big!!
She weighed 22.4 lbs. (fully dressed--I didn't know they made that switch this time) and was 33" tall.

Wiggle Wiggle

**READERS BE WARNED: This post is about my boobs**

How wonderful children are! And how wonderful they are when they, ever so kindly, point out the (not so wonderful) changes pregnancy does to your body! Oh Olivia--I had to laugh this morning. We had just got up and ate breakfast...now ladies, honestly, how many of you get dressed to eat breakfast with your kids at home? I was in my jammies (prenancy jammies = large t-shirt...), no bra of course. I had walked over to the sink to wet a rag to wipe Olivia off with and when I got back over to her she took both of her hands and reached out to my chest, put one hand on each boob and said "WIGGLE WIGGLE". :) Thanks Lula. :)

Picnic!

Last week we took Olivia up to Ryan's hunting land for a picnic. Now that the weather is beautiful, we have been outside as much as possible. Isn't Olivia getting big? (Me too!)

(21.5 wks.)

Camping Fun!

This past weekend we had the PLEASURE to go camping with some friends! We were up near Grand Rapids and we had an absolute blast. It was beautiful weather, the WHOLE time!! We enjoyed food, fun, fishing, and lots of laughs. I forgot my camera, so check out Jill's blog for pics of our weekend!
