The tanning salon

Okay, so I have not been tanning in almost 5 years. Since my wedding. And I think that is a good thing for the most part. I mean, I don't need to un-necessarily increase my risk for cancer. But sometimes, I miss the tanning bed. (By the way, I make myself sound like I used to tan a lot, I certainly never did...but enjoyed tanning once in a while). Since we are going to
ME-HE-CO (!!) in about a month, AND it is the middle of winter, AND I burn easy, AND I just plain wanted to, I figured I better buy myself a few sessions.

Now, the last time I went tanning, you bought the wonderful cancer giving rays by the minute. Apparently it has all changed. Now you buy them by the unit. And one unit is like $7!!! That is insane. In high school I would tan for 10 minutes for like $3. Wow. Talk about inflation. Anyway, so the girl behind the counter should totally go into sales because I ended up buying $90 worth of tanning + lotion. I totally wasnt going to go for the lotion, but she convinced me of it's marvelosity. $90? It better be worth it.

So far, I look like a tomato, tomorrow will probably be more like a strawberry and I'm $90 in the whole. I better look good in my swimsuit. The only thing that makes me feel better is that my minutes, I mean my units, are good for 2 years.

I used to tan in hs (for prom and whatever) for the same price as you- like $3 for a 10-20 minutes session! Now the place I go sells by the tan (cost of 3 minutes in the bed vs. 10 minutes is the same)=RIP OFF! But, I have to do it again soon for all my summer weddings so I don't look like a ghost with my veins. :)

Gosh, for $90, the girl better rub the tanning lotion ON you before you go in and then rub the aloe on before you leave.....inflation, indeed!

Wow! I had no idea of the changes (aka inflation) either!! I admit that I too long for the warm nap (long as in 10 minutes max). I hope your "strawberriness" gets better asap!!

Mexico! Where in Mexico? FUN!

I did a few sessions before we got married two years ago and couldn't BELIEVE how expensive it is. Ridiculous!

I used to go a few years ago and paid $40 a month for a month of unlimited tanning.

Funny how many responses on tanning! But I too, ehlan, have to share in your surprise of the whole minute v. session switch. When I went in before I was pg. this time I bought some minutes...coem to soon find out the minutes were expriring, but if you already had them you could keep using them indefinately...so being smart...I bought a bunch (like 300 minutes, and actually I had 2 Gift Certificates) knowing that I go for very short times (like 3-5 min. at first) and knew I would save myself some money someday!!!! I'm sorry for your surprise...someone should have warned you!!! heheh

Yes Alicia, who knew that tanning would inspire so many responses?
