Just so you know...

It isn't because I don't like you that I'm not posting.
I'm really busy.
Big exam coming up in...well I'm not telling you when in case I fail. Then I'd have to tell you that too.
I'm busy studying...or procrastinating online during my study time at Caribou.
You can pray for me that I pass...and survive!
We're good though. Busy, but good.

A couple Oliviaisms to tide you over:

Last weekend they had a babysitter during the day...at the end of the day our babysitter, Katelyn, had to get ready to go to a banquet. Olivia was watching her do her hair. She said, "Wow, Katelyn, you look so beautiful! Just like a walrus!"

My Dad makes "smart" comments sometimes...We call them "Roger talk". He sounds crabby, although he always denies he is...right Rog? So on Tuesday my parents had the kids while we worked, and my Dad said something to my Mom and Olivia said, "Grandpa, Don't be so grumpy!"

On our way to daycare this morning, Aidan was suspicously quiet in the back. I asked Olivia what he was doing and she looked at him and said, "He's thinking."

:) Love my girl! (And my boy too, but he doesn't say too much yet!)

Some recent Oliviaisms...

Olivia has been "playing around" with language lately, which is so funny! For example, she recently called Ryan her "Goblin boy" and Aidan her "Booga Boy".

While praying before bed tonight she said: Dear Jesus, thank you for Elliott Moose on the loose...
(while I get that praying for cartoon characters is a typical thing for wee ones, it cracked me up to hear the phrase!)

And one of my "isms" to Olivia this weekend (things out of the mouths of Moms), "Olivia, put down that scorpion and come let me show you the slide!" (Don't worry, it wasn't real...it was at the Children's Museum) :)

I'm sure I will have an interesting one later this week...my parents (and I) decided it was time to put down the family cat, Teeny. He was 16 years old and just not doing well anymore. Always a tough decision, but it was time. Olivia loves Teeny and always has to check in on him at my parents place. I haven't told her yet, mostly because I'm not sure how to! But I'm sure it will make for intersting discussion when I do!

And a little about Aidan: he recently has begun growling...it's hilarious! He walks around all the time just growling to himself. :)

One Year Old!

Happy Birthday Aidan!

Once again: Seriously!! It's been how long!! A year!?!?! I cannot believe my little man was born one year ago today! My sweet little babe is now entering toddlerhood. Wow. It has been an amazing whirlwind kind of a year and while it hasn't always been easy, I have loved every minute of it (even if I have to look back later to love certain minutes!). A very merry update!

I have had zero time combined with zero ideas for posts leaving me blogless. But today I'm back with the update! My surgery went great--already 2 1/2 weeks ago! I've still been sore off and on, but am feeling pretty much back to normal now. Olivia is glad that I can pick her up again, and I swear she's gained 10 lbs. in the 2 weeks I was on restriction!

Remember Aidan's sleep problems? Well the day before my surgery I brought him in to the clinic and he had an ear infection. That night he only woke up once! And when he was with my mother-in-law, every night he only woke up once! Amazing! Of course as soon as he was back with me he started getting up a few more times a night again. But thankfully that only lasted a few days--he is starting to do much better!! He typically sleeps from 7 to between 3-5 am, eats, and then sleeps again until between 6 and 6:45. It's amazing what a little sleep can do for a person!!

And, speaking of Aidan, he will be turning 1 next week! WHHHAAT!

Christmas was wonderful! Busy, of course, but wonderful! We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, both split between both families. Luckily everyone was close so we didn't have to spend too much time on the roads. The kids had a blast, but were super exhausted (and still are catching up!). This week we will celebrate with Ryan's immediate family as his brother Aaron came home from Sweden yesterday...brimming with engaged bliss!

And I will leave you with an Olivia story. My potty-training princess. Or not. She SOOO wants nothing to do with toilets. But we're trying a little bit here and there. I'm barely pushing, but more making the option available and tempting her with presents. :) So, last week she wore panties all afternoon and evening--over 3 hours and no accidents at all! It was bath time and I KNEW, because I'm a smart Mom like that, that she had to pee. And I knew (once again, smart Mom) that if she hit the tub with a full bladder, well....you know. Ryan started giving Aidan his bath and we told Olivia she had to pee on the pot before she got in. Holy hysterics. Seriously, crying and screaming and tearing the potty seat off the pot for 10 minutes. You'd think we were asking her to, well I don't even know, but something terrible! Finally the phone rang, and my attention was divided. Olivia says, "Okay, I'll pee on the pot now." Puts her seat back up, climbs on, and pees instantly.

Little stinker. She totally knows what to do. Her High Stuborness just needs to make up her mind!
