Okay, so I knew my little man was truly little. But this little?
I brought him for his 4 month appointment today and he has dropped on the charts.
Weight: 12 lb. 8 oz. 6th percentile
Height: 23 1/5 in. 8th percentile
Head: 15 1/4 in. 1st percentile.
At his 2 month appointment he was in the 20th percentiles.
His wonderful doctor isn't worried (I wish I could have as much UNconcern). She said it's time to start cereal (mixed with juice because he needs all the calories he can get). She talked a lot about how much he IS thriving--he smiles, coos, laughs, rolls both ways, holds on to things, reaches for things, is happy and content. He gets plenty of milk. He's just little. She said we will just watch him over time and if things continue to go down percentile wise we will need to look into things. But she isn't concerned.
I can't help but be a little worried. I tried giving him cereal today but he so isn't ready for it. He just thrust it back out with his tongue. I will keep trying everyday though.
Please pray he's just a little man! :)

My friends three babies were all like that and the doctors got so concerned, even though the kids were all thriving, just like Aidan is. For the first born, they were cutting up steak for the little guy when he was like 6 months. It was crazy! But then they all "caught up" and are completely average sized toddlers. I'm glad your doctor isn't making you puree steak yet..... ;)
I just wanted to say that if he is THRIVING then he's just FINE! Try not to worry. ((hugs))
Are you breastfeeding? Maybe you can compare him on the WHO charts instead of the CDC. BF babies are leaner usually.
Also, I would hesitate to start cereal, if he's not ready, like you said. Besides, if he's eating cereal he's getting less milk, and that's where the real nutrients are!
You are doing great. Hang in there!
I mean, SOMEONE'S gotta be at the bottom, right? It's funny because I only think of him as compared to Lola, so he's HUGE to me!
