Gee....Thanks??

I started this morning off like I have most mornings lately--out for a walk with Olivia in the stroller (well, after breakfasts, showers, clothes etc.). I always enjoy our walks; they are so peaceful. I expected today to be no different.

As I passed our neighbor's driveway, the wife was leaving in her car. We haven't seen them much over the winter, because we aren't out and about too much. So it had been a while. We stopped to chat. She, of course, ooh-ed and aah-ed over Olivia. Then, apparently....or maybe not, it was my turn...
Neighbor: Boy, You sure are looking skinny! (I hate when people say this to me, I mean, what are you supposed to say??)
Me: Well, thank you.
Neighbor: I mean, you were looking really chunky for a while there; but now you are looking skinny again.
Me: Oh...ah...thanks?????

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who says those things? Get some social skills, lady!!!

Hmmmm...this belt discussion is awfully close to my waistline...too close for comfort today! ;)

Haha, my mom sometimes says stuff like that...and my great-grandma does almost every time she sees me...always a great feeling, right?

That's when you're supposed to make a pleasant comment about how fantastic her hi-lights are looking lately.

Horrendous and hilarious; and of course not at all true. Maybe she was just used to seeing you in a winter coat and snowpants. :)

My favorite after having Annika was three months later when I returned to work (and back in my pre-pregnancy clothes, mind you), a member at the credit union says, "You still haven't had that baby?" Huh? Being gone for three months and losing lots of weight must not mean having a baby to some people.

well ehlan. this is your neighbor and i do have some social skills.....ok, just kidding, its not your neighbor but you had a slight heart attack for second, right? maybe not, since you probably read my name.

well, i disagree with said neighbor, i've seen no "chunky for a while"! although i have only seen you like 3 times since Olivia has been born. :(

can your husband go to the bwca this summer?

Thanks Tim... And everyone!

Sarah--a few days after I had Olivia, my nieces came down to visit and Raegan (6 at the time) looked at me and said, Do you have another baby in there? Of course, I couldn't be expected to look glamorous a few days after, and it came from a little one...it made me giggle!
