Sometimes it's hard to be a new mom! Yesterday we went to the 4th of July celebration at our church; it was a lot of fun...but it was hard! I would have loved to be outside playing games, being with Ryan, talking with friends, etc., but I had to be inside with Olivia because it was SO hot! We were outside for a little bit, but it was just too hot for a little babe. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun inside too, but it just wasn't the same.
Also, I get so aggravated when people talk about Olivia's size. I don't know why it bugs me so much, it probably shouldn't. But it does! Yesterday someone was commenting on "how big she is for 4 months". First off, she isn't. Second, the way people say it just comes across to me as judgmental. They probably aren't intending it to be that way, but that is how I feel. It makes me feel like I have to defend her...which I don't! Why do people have to say it like that? Can't you just say "look how big she's getting!" or "she's growing so fast!". It sounds so much better that way.

I'm guilty, I often comment on how big or small babies are for their age. Probably because they all vary so much and then it doesn't really matter later in life how big or small they were as a baby! (remmeber tiny bridgit was born a ten pounder!)
Maybe I shouldn't comment. But I'm sure no one means offense. I'm sorry if I've done it before.
I'm sorry you and Olivia were stuck inside yesterday -- it has been super hot here too! I can only imagine the humidity and mosquito levels there...
As for the size comments, I'm sure people mean no harm, but I would be irritated too. I don't know why, but I just would. Maybe an appropriate bib such as "My baby will kick your baby's butt" would work. Although, I don't think that would actually be "appropriate." :)
Sorry E, no solution here, only empathy from a child who was off the charts for size/weight until she was 12. I was a big freakin' baby/toddler/child! Thank goodness, I petered out at my 5'3 size 8 self. :)
Don't feel bad if you are a person who comments, just think about the way in which you say it next time. Dont' worry Rachel, I don't think you said anything to Olivia! :) It definately is one of those things I shouldn't let bother me, but it does...WORKING ON THAT! :)
